This year is a big year for Eftpos New Zealand. It all started with our announcement last year that we are the first terminal provider to bring Android payment terminals to New Zealand businesses.
I'm pleased to report we have nearly 1,200 Android terminals deployed in the field and we're already piloting our next Android terminal model with plans to launch in March. We know many businesses would like to get their hands on one of these new terminals! Soon we will start proactively upgrading all of our customers to Android devices. You can learn more about our latest Android terminal and some of the features of these new terminals here and request priority upgrade here.
The COVID-19 pandemic has been a major catalyst for change in Payments, accelerating growth in eCommerce and contactless payments. We're fully embracing our role as a trusted payment solution provider to Kiwi businesses and transforming our product offering to help merchants continue to adapt, grow and thrive - no matter where or how they take payment.
To help Kiwi businesses keep step with the changing face of commerce and payments, we're launching an eCommerce solution for Kiwi businesses and a Merchant Portal. Businesses will be able to build fully customisable checkout pages with our checkout tool and instore and online transactions will be consolidated and made actionable through the unified Merchant Portal. The omnichannel portal combines deep data capabilities and hands-on payment management tools such as fraud prevention, tokenization, and a virtual terminal. Keep an eye out on our Facebook page, blog and your inbox as we work towards launching these exciting new solutions!
I must acknowledge the recent rapid escalation of COVID-19 Alert Levels in response to new community cases in Auckland. These most recent shifts in Alert Levels were an abrupt and unwelcome reminder that we're not out of the woods yet. I know how disruptive and stressful yet another lockdown is on small businesses. For no-nonsense advice and resources, I cannot recommend enough our industry partners Retail NZ and the Restaurant Association. These two organisations have worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic supporting their industries, making sure the voices of small business owners are heard and delivering accurate and timely free information for businesses.
It takes a team of 200 to run Eftpos New Zealand. When the announcement was made that New Zealand was entering the Alert Level 4 lockdown last year we managed to transition almost all of our staff to remote working over just one weekend. That included our Technical Helpdesk who we knew would be critical to supporting our customers through this time. Throughout it all, our development teams maintained their laser focus on the delivery of our new solutions while tackling the challenges of remote working, home schooling and the stress of lockdown.
Stay tuned for more updates, and as always, get in touch if you have any questions, feedback, or ideas. You can send us an email here or find us on Facebook.
