While it has been great to see the lifting of COVID restrictions drive an uplift in consumer activity, particularly for the long-suffering tourism and hospitality sectors, unfortunately merchants generally are now having to deal with new headwinds in the form of rising inflation and plunging consumer confidence. While the impact differs for different market segments, we are seeing transaction levels across our customer base remain at least 10% below pre-pandemic levels and many merchants continue to do it really tough.
We are committed to helping our customers through this challenging environment. Despite substantial increases in our input costs we continue to hold our prices and we are now delivering a number of new services that can help merchants grow and improve their businesses.
Top of this list are our new online payment services. Whether you have an online store, take card payments over the phone or want a secure way to embed payment into your invoicing and remote customer payments then we have solutions for you. Regardless of whether you are new to online/digital payments or already have solutions from other providers, I encourage you to call us on 0800 338 767 or visit www.eftpos.co.nz to find out how we can help streamline your payments and save you money. In addition, our free online portal provides visibility of and ability to manage all your in-store or online transactions.
Our new AndroidTM smart terminals are also proving to be a valuable tool for our customers – with many using functionality such as contactless surcharging to help manage acceptance costs. We now have over 25,000 of these devices in market and are accelerating the replacement of existing solutions for all our customers while also starting to really leverage the improved customer proposition these solutions support, including running Point of Sale software directly on the terminal. This video here with our long-standing customer Corporate Cabs is a great showcase of some of the benefits these devices can deliver.
If you're a current customer and haven’t been contacted already, we’ll be in touch over the coming months regarding upgrading your terminal solutions.
In the meantime, we wish you, your business and your staff all the best as we navigate these challenging times.
Ngā mihi,
