Unsure whether your EFTPOS terminal needs a compliance upgrade this year? All merchants using PCI 3.X version EFTPOS machines are required to upgrade before 30 June 2024. In this article, we'll guide you on how to tell if your EFTPOS Terminal is a PCI 3.X device.

1. Identify Your Terminal Model

  • Your terminal's brand and terminal model may be printed on the terminal itself
  • If the logo or model number is not visible on the terminal, refer to your terminal's labels by turning the device over and checking for stickers.
  • Alternatively, you can reach out to your terminal provider or contact us for assistance.

2. Confirm Your Terminal's PCI Version:

  • Check the Device Register on the Payments NZ website here. Or get in touch with our team and we'll check your terminal for you.

 

3. Consult with Your Terminal Provider:

  • If your device requires an upgrade, reach out to your current terminal provider or contact us at 0800 EFTPOS for assistance. We can verify the compliance status of your device and guide you through the necessary steps.
